The truncated hockey season opened on January 19, 2013 with a 48 game season featuring intra-conference games only. At the start of play there were four Jews in the N.H.L.:

MICHAEL CAMMALLERI (C) with the Calgary Flames
JEFF HALPERN (F) with the New York Rangers
ERIC NYSTROM (LW) with the Dallas Stars

ETHAN WEREK (C) in the New York Rangers system
DAVID WARSOFSKY(D) in the Boston Bruins system
JASON ZUCKER (LW) in the Minnesota Wild system
